Nagpur: Just before the foundation laying ceremony of Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Food Park at MIHAN on Saturday, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Vilas Muttemwar has cornered the Fadnavis-led Government over the land deal. The State Government has made available 252 acre land to Baba Ramdev at the rate of Rs 25 lakh per acre. This deal is being objected vociferously by Muttemwar.
“How can the government single out Baba Ramdev for its favour? The market rate of the land in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is Rs 1 crore per acre. Then why Baba Ramdev is offered the land on platter. The land deal has caused a loss of Rs 170 crore to the State Government. Yesterday only, the government provided land to HCL at the rate of Rs 45 lakh per acre. Then on what basis Baba Ramdev was given the land so cheaply,” Muttemwar posed a pointed poser.
“Moreover, the State Government, in order to recover the lost ground, hiked the rate of land available in MIHAN by 15 percent. It means, the present rate of land in MIHAN is Rs 65 lakh per acre. Now, if any industrialist wants to purchase land here will have to pay 15 percent more. This is total injustice, to say the least. The government is violating the norms to favour a select few. The work of establishing MIHAN in Nagpur was done by Congress Government. The airlines major, Airbus Industrie had demanded 500 acre land at cheap rate but the government had refused it,” Muttemwar stated.
“The reality is that the BJP Government is repaying the “debt” the Yog Guru had provided to it in the form of campaign he did during Lok Sabha and Assembly elections for the saffron party. India is country of ‘Rishi-Munis.’ But I have first time seen a ‘Rishi’ (Baba Ramdev) advertising on TV. Baba is not Yogacharya. He has now turned industrialist. The BJP Government is helping the business of this Baba,” Muttemwar stated.
CBI probe into Baba-Govt deal must:
The former Union Minister has demanded CBI probe into the land deal process. “The government has violated the norms in providing land to Baba Ramdev. The Government is spreading a lie that it has done tendering process thrice for the deal. There is no information when and where the tendering process was done. The argument that no other entity took part in the tendering process is laughable. A lot of companies are in food processing business. The Baba has the blessings of Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. No industrialist will dare to raise his voice against the government. Baba Ramdev’s company, it is being said, will be boosting Ayurved products in the region. But already Baidyantah, Vicco, Zandu, Dabar and other such companies are working on it. Therefore, the CBI probe into the tendering process is must. If warranted, we will knock the doors of courts. The BJP, during elections, had given the slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” Now it has changed the slogan “Bhajapa ka saath, Baba ka vikas,” Muttemwar quipped sarcastically.

Bogus promise:
“The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, during poll campaigns, had promised jobs to 50,000 youths. In reality, even 100 youths have not received jobs. The foundation laying ceremony is being glamourized to hide this failure. More than Rs 10 crore are being spent on the marketing of foundation laying ceremony. Who is spending this huge money should be made public,” Muttemwar demanded.
