Hyderabad/Nagpur: According to report published in IBN LIVE, Muslim seminary Jamia Nizamia in Hyderabad has issued a fatwa against chanting the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The seminary called the slogan un-Islamic and irrational.
It has said that it is an individual belief to treat India as a mother and that view cannot be enforced on others.

The remarks came a few days after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi stirred a controversy by saying that he would never chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. His statement has set the political tempers high.
Rejecting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s suggestions and methods to infuse patriotism in the young generation, Owaisi had said he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ even if a knife is put to his throat.
“I don’t chant that slogan. What are you going to do, Bhagwat sahab?” he had said at a rally in Udgir tehsil of Latur district in Maharashtra on February 13. “Nowhere in the Constitution it says that one should say Bharat Mata ki Jai,” he had added.
