Murder for nothing: Youth killed by 4 goons for racing bike in Pachpaoli

Nagpur: Defying all sensible logic, a youth was murdered by four unidentified goons just for racing his bike that had developed snag and broke down. The murder took place in Pachpaoli area here on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sumit Ramdas Dheriya (22), resident of Timki Rambhaji Road.

According to police, Sumit along with his friend Nitin Pandurang Shete (22), resident of Plot No. 149, Koradkarpeth, Pachpaoli, was returning home on his motorcycle around 11.55 pm on Thursday. Midway near Barsenagar Ambedkar Library, their bike developed snag and broke down. Sumit asked Nitin to give a push to the bike.

Due to the push, the bike started. But in order to sustain momentum, Sumit raced the bike. This petty act of Sumit proved fatal. The four unidentified goons who were standing nearby the spot accosted Sumit and asked him why he raced the bike. Even before Sumit could explain to them, the four accused stabbed him with a knife and inflicted grievous injuries on his abdomen. Profusely bleeding Sumit collapsed and died on the spot. The accused fled the spot soon after killing Sumit.

Pachpaoli PSI Sisode, based on a complaint lodged by Nitin Shete, booked the four unidentified accused under Sections 302, 34 of the IPC read with Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act and launched a search to nab them.
