Murder convict on bail arrested with 5 kg ganja in Kamptee

Nagpur: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch arrested a hardcore criminal and seized 5 kg ganja worth Rs 50,000 from his possession in Kamptee on Thursday. The accused has been involved in serious crimes including murder, attempt to murder, robberies and many more.

Recently, the accused, identified as Jaffar Abbas Barkat Ali (32), resident of Azad Nagar, near Dragon Palace, Kamptee, has been convicted in a murder case and awarded life imprisonment. He was on bail following appeal in the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court.

Similarly, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Crime Branch nabbed two more drug peddlers and seized over 7 kg ganja worth Rs 71,390 from them. The two accused – Jabbar Khan alias Tundya Rahim Khan (38), resident of Mohanlal Sarai Slums, Railway Station Road, New Kamptee and Yashwant alias Ashu Pawansingh Thakur (20) of Ramnagar Slums, New Kamptee – were involved in serious crimes including murder, attempt to murder, robberies etc. Jabbar was released on bail recently.

The action was carried out by Senior PI Rajendra Nikam, API Vijay Kasodhan, ASIs Vithoba Kale, Arjunsingh Thakur, constables Datta Bagul, Tulsidas Shukla, Pradeep Pawar, and other staff Satish Patil, Nitin Rangne, Nitin Mishra, Nitin Salunkhe, driver Naresh Shingne under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Nilesh Bharne, DCP Gajanan Rajmane, and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar.
