Murder alleged in 20-year-old’s suicide,family blames officials

Nagpur News : Death of an alleged robber, 20-year-old Atul Titare, who ended his life by jumping into well has raised many doubts for MIDC police. Alleging his death as a murder, Titare’s family members and friends claimed that he was pushed into the well by some officials who alleged him of robbery charges.

On Wednesday evening, Titare, former security guard of Private Vidarbha Auto Component, was taken by some officials for questioning near Swastik Engineering Company at MIDC when he took a jump into the well. Till late night, fire officials were searching for his body.

Police said that Titare, a native of Bihar, had left the job from Pvt. Vidarbha Auto Component on January 16. However, the next day company owner Kumar Raju Jha came to know about the robbery of silencers worth Rs 1.5 lakhs stolen from his company.

Suspecting Titare behind the robbery, Jha called him for interrogation for three days repeatedly. Police sources said that on Wednesday, Titare has assured Jha to show him the stolen materials. However, failed to do so, he jumped into the well, said police.

His family claimed that the company officials have abducted him for three days for questioning about the stolen materials. They alleged that he was tortured badly during interrogation.
