Mungantiwar flags off ‘Vruksha Dindi’ from Ramtek to boost green cover in State

Maharashtra Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Monday flagged off the ‘Vruksha Dindi’ from Super Market Ground at Ramtek. The ‘Vruksha Dindi’ programme, organized by Green Earth Organization of MLC Anil Sole along with Forest Department and Directorate of Social Forestry, was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as chief guest. Other dignitaries who attended the function include Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Raosaheb Danve, District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Social Welfare Minister Rajkumar Badole, Ramtek’s Member of Parliament (MP) Krupal Tumane, MLA Mallikaarjun Reddy as guests of honour.

The “Vruksha Dindi,’ to be taken out from June 20 to 30, is aimed at spreading awareness among people on planting of trees to boost green cover in run up to massive tree plantation programme to be held on July 1 the day the State Government planned to plant two crore saplings across Maharashtra.

Mungantiwar, speaking on the occasion, said that the ‘Vruksha Dindi’ is being started from the holy and historic place of Ramtek, renowned as place of Lord Ram. “The responsibility of planting of trees and nurturing and conserving them is not only of Government. Public participation is must. The State Government is making all out efforts to increase green cover and the ‘Vruksha Dindi’ will create the necessary awareness. A country like Bhutan is showing to the world that the country is happiest nation in Happiness Index of the globe. The reason for it is the country’s massive green cover. The State Government will undertake Vanyukt Shivar scheme on the lines of Jalyukt Shivar for its success,” the Forest Minister said.

On June 21 the procession will contact people at Tumsar, Tiroda, Gondia, Amgaon, Deori, Sadak Arjuni and take halt at Sakoli. The next day, volunteers of Green Earth Organisation will pass through Sakoli, Morgaon Arjuni, Lakhandur, Wadsa, Brahmapuri, Armori and take a night halt at Gadchiroli. On June 23, the ‘Vruksha Dindi’ will pass through Chamorshi, Ashti, Gondpipri, Pobhurna and reach Chandrapur and the next day travel through Bhadravati, Warora, Chimur, Bhivapur, Umrer and reach Nagpur.The participants will take a night halt two days in the Orange City. On June 27, the dindi will resume journey and pass through Butibori, Samudrapur, Jam, Hinganghat, Wardha, Deoli and reach Pulgaon.

On June 28 the dindi will traverse through Arvi, Karanja, Katol, Kalmeshwar, Hingna where the concluding function will be held. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be the chief guest of the concluding function.
