Nagpur: Madhya Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Sunday arrived in city and straightaway lefty for RSS Headquarters in Mahal. Chauhan met Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and extended a formal invitation to attend the Sinhast Kumbh Mela beginning in Ujjain from April 12. The Chief Minister reached the RSS Headquarters at 11 am and stayed there for one hour.
Talking to media persons after coming out Chauhan said that the RSS chief has assured him of his presence at Sinhast Kumbh Mela. “I have appealed Bhagwat to come to Ujjain on April 12 itself and participate in the opening ceremony of the Mahaparva,” the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said.
Notably, the Madhya Pradesh Government is making efforts to turn the Mahaparva of faith in the form of a ‘Parva’ of cultural and ideological ‘Manthan’ (churning) under which an intellectual discussion on the present problems and challenges being faced by the country could also be held. The topics to be discussed could be education, health, ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign, global warming etc. At present, the image and concept of a Kumbh Mela tradition is that it is a a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith and the Madhya Pradesh Government wants to discard that tradition. A ‘manthan’ over the social problems to be raised at Kumbh Mela is underway. The Chief Minister is likely to meet the Prime Minister in the coming days In this connection and hold discussions.
