Nagpur News: A mother-son duo was killed on the spot when the Activa scooter they were riding in was dashed by a rashly driven trailer-truck on Wednesday (June 11) in city.

According to police, the victims Varsha Suresh Sakhre (45), resident of Nagsenvan, Nagpur and her son Shashant (12), were returning home on their Activa scooter (MH-31/CJ 1654). When Varsha and Shashant reached in front of Samshuddin’s scrap (kabadi) shop on Kalamna Ring Road, the trailer-truck (HR-56/A 2934), driven in neck-break speed, crashed into their Activa scooter. The impact was intense that both Varsha and Shashant were hurled in the air for a long distance. Both crashed on the road with great force and suffered critical injuries on vital parts of their bodies and died on the spot. Fearing public wrath, the driver of the trailer-truck truck fled the spot leaving behind the killer vehicle.

Yashodhara Nagar police were informed about the fatal crash who reached the spot immediately. The cops first completed the preliminary investigation into the accident and sent bodies of Varsha and Shashant to GMCH for post-mortem. The Senior PSI Mandwale, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Nilesh Ashok Sakhre (20), resident of Nagsenvan, Nagpur, has booked the trailer-truck driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC and Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and probing the matter further.
