Moghe announces “Advantage Vidarbha” for investments worth Rs. 10, 800 Crore

Nagpur News: In what seems like a promising New Year gift for the Vidarbha region, Nagpur District Guardian Minister Shivajirao Moghe on Monday formally announced “Advantage Vidarbha”, a programme aimed at bringing in investment worth Rs. 10, 800 Crores into the region. The programme is being jointly organised by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) at Hotel Centre Point in the city.

The programme, to be held over 1st and 2nd February in the city, is aimed at luring major investors into Vidarbha and will see the presence of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan as well as giants from the Textiles, Auto, Mining, Power and Equipment and Agriculture and Food Industries. State Industries Minister Narayan Rane, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari and other ministers such as Rajendra Mulak and Anil Deshmukh will also be attending the programme. Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda will be presiding over the entire programme. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be present for the closing ceremony.

According to Moghe, Textile Industry leaders like Managing Director of the Raymond group Gautam Singhania, Chairman of the Wellspun Group B K Goenka and Chairman of the Indorama Synthetic O P Lohia will be participating in a discussion on ‘Advantage Vidarbha’.

Kishore Biyani of the Future Group, Dinesh Sahara of Ruchi Soya, Siraj Chaudhary of Carling India Private Limited and Shiva Nagrajan of Mother Dairy Food and Vegetables are among the more prominent names that will form the panel for a discussion about the Agricultural and Food Industry in the region, during the two- day programme.

A discussion will also take place about Auto, Mining, Power and Equipment sectors among P Ganesh from the Godrej Group, Satish Seth from the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, R S Thakur from the Tata Autocom System, Sanjeev Joglekar from Bharat Forge and N K Minda from the Minda Group of Companies.

The announcement was made during a meeting at the VIA (Vidarbha Industries Association) on Monday.  A final decision- making meeting is scheduled for 2nd January, which the Chief Minister, Industries Minister, Textiles Ministers and VIA office- bearers are expected to attend.
