Nagpur:
Luck ran out for two bike-borne chain-snatchers as they were arrested while trying to rob a woman in Kotwali area here on Wednesday night. A mobile phone proved nemesis for the chain-snatchers.

It all happened when the complainant woman Afsana Salimkhan Pathan (50), a resident of Tulshibagh Road, opposite Suvarnakar Mandir, and a neighbouring woman were on a night stroll around 10.45 on Wednesday. When they reached near Marathi Primary School in Chitnavispura, the two Bajaj Pulsar-borne accused Vijay alias Bunty Raju Gupta (25), resident of Binaki Sonar Toli, and Kishan Arun Mohto (19), resident of Sweeper Colony, Lalganj, came from behind and snatched Afsana’s gold chain worth Rs 20,000. However, while fleeing the spot, a mobile phone of one of the accused fell down on the road. Afsana lifted the phone and immediately handed over to Kotwali Police Station. The mobile phone revealed all the details of the owner making it easy for the cops to trace him. Soon the two chain-snatchers were in the police net.

Kotwali PSI P R Fulzele booked the two chain-snatchers Vijay alias Bunty Gupta and Kishan Mohto under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest. The arrest could lead the cops to ascertain involvement of the two accused in other chain-snatching cases.
