Mobile and two-wheeler thief nabbed: Goods worth Rs 2, 17, 821/- seized from accused

Nagpur: On October 17, 2016, when the personnel of Detection Squad including In-charge of Detection Squad Police Sub Inspector Bhagat and Police Constable Ravindra Bujade, Nayak Police Constable Arun Chikle, Ankush Rathod, Constables Ajay Patil and Driver Gyaneshwar Dhakne were Patrolling in the jurisdiction of police station in order to undertake preventive action and detection work, they got a secret tip off that one person is going to come to sell stolen mobile to Jhenda Square in the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station.

On the basis of the secret tip off, the police ascertained that the suspicious person is identified as Himanshu alias Tannu Rajkumar Soni aged 19 years and a resident of Sadar Nagpur and he was apprehended from the spot. When the accused was frisked, just as the cops had received information, the cops found two stolen mobiles from his person.

When the cops questioned him about the mobile, the accused confessed that he had stolen the mobile from a Mobile Shop situated in Sadar area around 10 days ago. On investigating into the claim of theft, the cops found out that the owner of Globus Mobile Shopee situated in Geeta Nagar Faras Gate Road, Jingabai Takli identified as Anil Harishchandra Wairagade had lodged a complaint in Mankapur Police Station that some mobile were stolen from his shop between 12 midnight of October 5, 2016 to 8 am of October 6, 2016. The cops of Mankapur Police Station had registered a case under Crime No 160/16 under sections 461 and 380 of Indian Penal Code.

The accused had also confessed that he and a minor accomplice had stolen the mobile. The accused Himanshu alias Tannu Rajkumar Soni aged 19 years and a resident of Sadar Nagpur was brought to the Mankapur Police Station and was arrested for the registered crime.

During investigation, the stolen mobile phones and other goods in all worth approximately 43, 721/- was seized from the accused. His Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle which he had used to commit the crime bearing RTO Registration No MH-31/ BJ-4033 and another two-wheeler Honda SS bearing MH-31/ EH-0702 stolen from a place falling under the jurisdiction of Ambazhari Police Station totaling worth Rs 78721/- was seized from him.

The accused was presented in the court on October 20, 2016 and a PCR for the accused was obtained to carry out further investigation.

After obtaining his PCR, when the accused was subjected to detailed questioning, he spilled the beans on other thefts which he had committed in Mankapur, Gittikhadan and Sitabuldi areas.

The cops also managed to recover stolen Mobile phones, Lap tops, Desk-top Computer, stolen two-wheelers and other vehicles used in committing thefts totaling goods worth Rs two lakhs seventeen thousand eight hundred and twenty one was seized from the accused.
