Nagpur: Prakash Gajbhiye, MLC of NCP raised the issue of MIHAN in the house during question hour on December 15, 2016. He raised the following queries:

Development projects undertaken in MIHAN; number of youth from Vidarbha who have got employment in industries in MIHAN & how many displaced farmers or their children were employed in MIHAN

While answering the queries raised by Gajbhiye, Minister of State Madan Yerawar said that an amount of Rs 739.75 crores has been allocated for the development of MIHAN. This amount was approved on October 12, 2015. Yerawar said that since earlier for every approval (even small or petty approvals) one had to go to Mumbai, an officer of Commissioner level has been posted in MIHAN Office in Nagpur who has the authority to take decisions. The Minister said the government was working on promoting Export Oriented Business.

Madan Yerawar informed the house that102 companies have been allotted land in MIHAN of which 25 companies have already started operations. He claimed that 10,000 youth have been given direct employment in these industries. He added that 20 companies have been allotted land in two years and an attractive power rate was offered to them.

Not satisfied with this answer, Prakash Gajbhiye counter questioned the Minister and asked how many farmers or family members / children were actually given employment, to which Madan Yerawar could not provide satisfactory answer. The opposition members expressed their anger over this failure to provide relevant answers.

The NCP MLC went on to give a reference about the statement of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis when he was the leader of opposition. Gajbhiye pointed out that the same situation that persisted then exists even now.

Prakash Gajbhiye then raised a query on the 200 acres of land allocated to Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group which had plans to set up a Greenfield Aerospace Project with capital investment of over Rs 6,500 crore in 289 acres of land in MIHAN SEZ in Nagpur. Gajbhiye wanted to know how far the project has reached. The Minister of State could not provide satisfactory answer to this query too. However, he said that he would submit his answer to the house soon.
