Nagpur: Bharat Kataria and his son Dishant were booked by MIDC police for allegedly causing the death of three labourers due to negligence at their Sonegaon Nipani-based M/s Kataria Agro Private Limited. The labourers had died after a fire on April 24.
The management is allegedly continuing with their operations without taking proper precautions and safety measures leading to repeated fire accidents.
Three workers were charred to death and four others injured, three of them seriously, in the fire that broke out at Kataria Agro Private Limited’s industrial unit in Sonegaon (Nipani) at MIDC Hingna, on April 24 morning.
The deceased were identified as Aadesh Dahiwale, resident of Isasani, Hingna, Hemraj Amro of Wadi and Anurodh Madavi, native of Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. Injured Dharmendra Agase, Vikas Madavi and Sarin Madavi were rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital.
Around 11 am on April 24, fire broke out inside the factory where about 20 workers were engaged in their routine task. Within minutes, the inferno engulfed the entire factory and thick smoke and flames started billowing out from the unit. About 14 workers were trapped in the devastating inferno. Three of them were charred to death after a blast that occurred during the fire. Others, somehow, managed to escape but four of them suffered injuries.
MIDC police had initially registered a case of accidental death but now have registered the offence after a probe.
