MGIMS Wardha announces admission to MBBS course; written exam on April 20 next year

Ending the long wait of large number of students aspiring for primary medical course,

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) at Sewagram in Wardha, a district near Nagpur has announced the admission schedule to its MBBS course for the academic year 2014-15. The entrance examination for admission to this course will be conducted on April 20 next year at various centres including Nagpur. Apart from Nagpur, examinations would also be taken at Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Varanasi and Kolkata. The selections will be done purely on merit basis and there will be no payment seats in the institute. The Prospectus and Application form will be available from December 20, 2013 to March 8, 2014. The last date of receipt of filled up application is March 20, 2014.

The age criterion for the applicant says that the applicant must attain 17 years of age on or before 31st December, 2014. Applicant must have passed the 12th Standard examination under the 10+2 system of Maharashtra State Higher Secondary Education Board or equivalent examination of any recognized Board or any Indian University with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in each subject in first attempt and must have obtained minimum 50% marks (40% in the case of SC/ ST/ Vimukta Jati- VJ/ Nomadic Tribe-NT/ OBC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Those who are going to appear in 10+2 Higher Secondary Board Examination in March / April 2014 are also eligible to appear in the competitive Entrance Examination.

As per the information, the Entrance Examination usually has two papers, each of 3 hours duration.  Paper I will be common question paper consisting of 180 multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 60 questions from each subject. Paper II will be on Gandhian Thought and will carry 60 marks. The questions on Gandhian Thought will be of long and short answer type.

The Prospectus & Application form with the syllabus, question papers of Gandhian thought for the last 6 years, with model question papers of Physics Chemistry and Biology, can be had from the office of the Dean  of the Institute, either by paying a sum of Rs 4000/- (including exam fee) personally at the cash counter of Deans Office, or by remitting a sum of Rs 4000/- (including exam fee) at any branch of State Bank of India by Challan which can be downloaded from the appropriate link at http://www.mgims.ac.in/. The admission is subject to any direction given by the Supreme Court of India, Bombay High Court, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and the Medical Council of India. The fee structure in MGIMS is as applicable to the Govt. Medical Colleges in Maharashtra State. The Institute does not have any paid seats.
