Nagpur: Ajni Police have booked four members of the notorious Mehar gang for allegedly killing leader Amol Suresh Mehar here, late Thursday night.
Cops have identified the accused as Rajat Sharma, Ankit Sharma, Nitesh Maske, and Sunain Kharche.
Speaking to Nagpur Today, Ajni PI (Crime) Laxman Kendre informed that a few days ago, Rajat and Amol had an argument in the vicinity. This, prima facie, led to the murderous assault on Amol.
“A couple of days ago, Rajat was hurling abuses at locals in Hawarapeth Area under Ajni Police Station. Amol then confronted him and asked him to behave properly in the vicinity. However, this had triggered Rajat, who later hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Amol,” said Kendre.
“At around 11 pm on Thursday night, all the accused cornered Amol near Cement Road in the Hawarapeth area and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, leaving Amol in a pool of blood. All fled the spot. He was rushed to Government Medical Hospital but in vain,” PI said.
An offense under Section 302 has been registered against the accused. Further investigations are ongoing.
