GMCH, Nagpur
Nagpur: In the name of development the Government Medical College is taking fees from the students though no development or facilities are seen. Resentment among students has come in the open and they are now protesting against the college for taking Rs 5000 as development fees every year. The protesting students met the Dean and complained to him about the development fees but he said that it is as per the rules of DMER (Directorate of Medical Education Research).

The MARD doctors have made a written complaint to the DMER and Central MARD and have demand that this fee should be stopped. There are about 1000 undergraduates and 400 Postgraduate students and the development fees collected from these students is in lakhs. The colleges which do not get funds from government collect some funds from students. But in this case the Medical College and Hospital is of government. All the expenses are borne by the government. The college management has just to send bill to the government for the expense done in college and yet the college is taking Rs 5000 as development fees from students.

The students are complaining that even after taking development fees the college has not provide the wi-fi facility in the hostel.
