
Nagpur: Continuing its aggressive anti-narcotics crackdown under the campaign “Operation Thunder – Let Us Unite To Build A Drug-Free Society,” launched under the vision of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, the Ajni Police Station has arrested a 23-year-old accused for allegedly possessing and intending to sell MD drugs worth nearly Rs 15 lakh.
According to police, between 3.55 am and 5 am on May 25, the Ajni Police investigation team was patrolling within its jurisdiction when it received credible information about a suspected drug peddler residing at Savitribai Phule Nagar, Galli No. 6, Annabhau Sathe Marg in Ajni.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police conducted a raid at the residence of accused Aditya Bhimrao Telgote while strictly following provisions of the NDPS Act and in the presence of panch witnesses.
During the house search, police recovered 290 grams and 59 milligrams of MD powder concealed inside a zip-lock plastic packet hidden behind plywood sheets on the terrace of the house.
Police also seized two mobile phones from the accused. The total value of the seized contraband and property has been estimated at Rs 14.90 lakh.
Investigators said the accused was allegedly storing the narcotics for sale and financial gain. Based on the findings, a case has been registered against him under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act at Ajni Police Station.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the drugs and possible links to larger narcotics networks operating in the city.
