Nagpur: Two youth decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 17.41 Lakh from a jewellery shop at Sarafa Oli, Kamptee.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning at the shop ‘Mayur Jewellers’ own by Mayur Gurav age 26.

Gurav informed, around 11, as he was opening the shop; two persons came on bike stopped by his shop. One of the youth remains seated on the bike while another came to the shop when he was just lifting the shutter up. The bag containing ornaments of gold and silver was kept on the counter. The moment Gurav went inside to lift the other shutter, youth in shop walked away with bag containing ornaments and cash.

“It was a pre-planned attempt, as someone already had stiffed sticks into the second lock. Which eventually worked as the extra time taken by Gurav with lock came handy for the thieves to make an escape after lifting the bag. A case has been registered under section 380,34 and the investigation is in progress with the help of CCTV footage” told Police Constable Ashok Malokar to NT.
