Mayor directs officials to complete Phase-1 cement roads by Dec 31, 2016

Nagpur: The Mayor Pravin Datke on Saturday reviewed the progress of Phase-1 cement concrete roads and directed the concerned officials and contractors to complete them before December 31, 2016. The Phase-2 has to be given momentum, Datke said.

Datke on Saturday reviewed the construction of network of cement concrete roads across the city in a meeting held at Civil Lines office of NMC. At the outset, Datke sought information regarding the status of Phase-1. He was told by the officials that six roads have been completed. Subsequently, Datke directed the officials to complete the remaining roads except the dropped ones by December 31, 2016.

Updating about the Phase-11 project of cement concrete roads, the City Engineer Manoj Talewar said that 22 packages of 55 roads have been prepared for completion of the project speedily and within stipulated period. The Standing Committee has approved these roads. Out of the 22 packages, work orders for 13 packages have been issued. Process for work orders of two packages is underway and tenders for three packages are awaiting Standing Committee nod.

Mayor asked the officials to ensure construction of cement concrete roads is of highest quality and completed within time.
The meeting was attended among others by Chairman of Standing Committee Sudhir Raut, Project Committee Chairman Sunil Agrawal, Transport Committee Chairman Narendra Borkar, Muslim League Group Leader Aslam Khan, Weaker Sections Committee Chairman Raju Lokhande, Additional Commissioner Dr R Z Siddiqui, Chief engineer Ulhas Debadwar, Executive Engineers Mahesh Gupta, M G Kukreja, and representatives of agencies/contractors.
