Nagpur: A major fire broke out at an under-construction shop of Shri Om Decor near Baidyanath Chowk in Nagpur on Wednesday morning, triggering panic in the area. The fire reportedly started in wooden panels kept inside the premises and quickly spread due to the highly combustible material.
The incident occurred at around 11 am in the Baidyanath Chowk area under the jurisdiction of Imambada Police Station. According to preliminary information, people present at a shop adjacent to the premises heard a sound and noticed flames coming from the construction site.

Fire Department Reaches Within Two Minutes
The Cotton Market Fire Department was alerted at around 11:28 am. Two fire tenders reached the spot at approximately 11:30 am and immediately began firefighting operations.
Firefighters worked for some time to bring the blaze under control and successfully prevented it from spreading to neighbouring shops. Their timely response helped avert a potentially larger incident in the busy commercial area.
Goods Worth Lakhs Damaged
The fire caused significant damage to material and goods stored at the under-construction shop. Preliminary estimates suggest that property worth lakhs of rupees may have been destroyed in the blaze.
According to the initial assessment, sparking and a possible short circuit in a flex board installed for decoration work may have triggered the fire. However, the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation by the concerned authorities.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident. The fire was brought under control before it could spread to the adjoining shops and establishments.
