    Married woman tortured for dowry, offence registered

    Under jurisdiction of Bela police station, an incident of harassment for dowry is reported at Bela Town. The complainant, Rupali Kailash Sathawane, 23, a resident of Bela, presently residing at Silli filed a complaint on May 18 that she was married to the accused Kailash Sathawane aged about 28 years as per traditional rights on June 14, 2012. After some days of marriage, her husband and six other accused in collusion demanded a dowry of Rs 5 lakh. She was asked to bring it from her parental house. As she did not fulfil the demand, she was locked inside a room and was physically and mentally tortured.

    On the report of the complainant Bela police have registered offence under sections 342, 498A, 34 of IPC. Assistant sub-inspector Thakur is investigating into the matter.
