Nagpur: A 32-year-old married man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl after forcibly entering her house in the Kalamna police station area, in a disturbing incident that has once again highlighted the vulnerability of minors to sexual violence.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on November 1, when the girl was alone at home and studying in the hall. The accused, identified as Gajanan Meshram, who reportedly lives in the same locality, allegedly entered the house through the rear portion.
He is accused of grabbing the girl by her throat and dragging her into a bedroom. When she resisted, the accused allegedly threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm and forcibly raped her. After committing the crime, he reportedly fled through the rear exit.
The victim later narrated the incident to her family members, who immediately took her to Kalamna police station and lodged a complaint.
Taking cognisance of the serious allegations involving a minor, Kalamna police registered a case and arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway.
