Nagpur: “Before approving or denying any sort of demands, government first should consider listening the aspect of people involved in it. However the apathy of the BJP lead government towards Halba community shows there lack of concern as none of their representatives met the agitators in last five days,” said Shrihari Aney on Monday evening here in the city.
Aney was addressing a public meeting to press demands of Halba community and Vidarbha statehood at Kumbhare Smarak near Gandhibagh Garden.
Aney further continued, “Chief Minister and Union Minister are much bigger name to be with us or listen to our problems however they should have sent their representatives. This ignorance attitude surely will cost them in upcoming elections” he mentioned on this occasion.
On the issue of agitators breaking window glass of the Aapli bus earlier on Monday, he asserted that, agitation should never turn aggressive, however when government don’t listen to their own people, they left with no option but to turn there agitation severe to get their attention.
Aney also cleared that, Halba community belongs to scheduled caste tribal and not to Koshti community. “Like earlier government, present government are often put Halba community members with Koshti community just to deny them their constitutional right of reservation,” he added.
On Maratha Reservation, The state’s former solicitor general and the President of Vidarbha State Alliance, Claimed that the Maratha reservation will not stand in the court even if the state government is pretending to give reservation to Maratha community.
Before his speech, a student from Halba community, asked the gathering that why when it comes to jobs, caste validity Halba community students have to present documents of 1950s where other students have to present documents of belongs to year 2000.
In her address, Kavita Singhal from Aam Aadmi Party expressed her gratitude towards the Halba community and mentioned that at this very moment, members of Halba community across the region are agitating at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
“There are over 1 crore people who belong to Halba community. And these people have power to make or break any government, however the apathy of BJP lead government still continues towards Halba community, is shameful” she added.
Kamlesh Bhaghatkar who entered in his fifth day of fast was accompanied with Premlal Bhandhakar, president, Halba Kranti Sena, Shravan Khapekar, Ramesh Parate along with many other community members were present on this occasion.
