Many hurt as 2 groups clash at religious function in Lakadganj

Nagpur: Two groups went on a rampage and clashed with each other at a religious ceremony in the small hours of Monday night in Lakadganj area. Many clashers have been injured in the incident. At least 15 persons have been booked following complaint-counter complaint in connection with the clash.

Trouble started with the complainant Mohammed Munir Mohammed Mubin (49), resident of Satranjipura, was attending a Taqrir ceremony and was having food with other community brethren around 2 am of Monday. At the same time, a group of nine persons namely Mustafa Sharif, Yusuf Bhai, Mohammed Sharif, Umar Sharif, Mohd Kamar, Amjad Raza, Dr Jahoor Solanki, Pappu Patel and Sayyed Imran barged into the place wielding lethal weapons and started opposing the Taqrir ceremony. The accused abused Mohammed Munir and other community members, thrashed them and resorted to riot.
Lakadganj PSI U S Rathod, based on a complaint, booked the nine accused under Sections 143, 144, 147, 148, 149, 323, 504 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 4+25 of Arms Act.

In a counter complaint, Mujtaba Sharif Khan Mohammed Sariq Khan (41), resident of Babulban, told police that his grandfather Mutki Gulam Mohd Khan is religious head against whom the accused Usman alias Doctor, Munir, Gulam Mustafa, Shoeb Azhari, Bashir Bhai and Bunty Abdul published a defamatory information and also hurt religious sentiments.

Subsequently, Mujtaba along with his younger brother Murtuja Sharif Khan went the Taqrir ceremony being held at Satranjipura. Noticing them, the accused attacked the two brothers and their friend with sharp weapons and inflicted head injuries. Moreover, the accused damaged a Ford Figo car (MH-36/H 5400) belonging to their friend.

PSI U S Rathod, acting on the counter complaint, booked the accused under Sections 143, 144, 146, 147, 148, 149, 298, 324, 427 of the IPC and investigating the matter.
