Manservant burgles Rs 1.10 lakh from woman’s locker in Ramdaspeth

Nagpur: A manservant burgled Rs 1.10 lakh cash from the locker of a woman in whose house he was employed. The accused has reportedly been arrested.

A resident of Plot No. 5/6, Kamalatai Nivas, Ramdaspeth, Shiv Sanjay Wadattiwar (20) told police that his sister Shivani Wadattiwar had kept Rs 2 lakh cash in the locker of her room. The accused Rahul Gangadhar Thakre (26), native of Sonpuri, Tehsil Umred, and who was working as manservant at Wadattiwar’s house, opened Shivani’s locker and laid his hands on Rs 70,000 out of Rs 2 lakh.

The burglary had taken place sometime before June 13, 2018. When Shivani came to know about the theft, she enquired about it with the accused. The accused Rahul Thakre admitted that he had stolen Rs 40,000 earlier also apart from Rs 70,000.

Sitabuldi police constable Narayan Kirad, based on the complaint, booked the accused Rahul Thakre under Section 381 of the IPC and reportedly arrested him.
