Nagpur News : Sonegaon police has booked Rajesh Mahajan, father who had thrown his daughters Vaishali, 8 and Janvi, 4 into Sonegaon Lake on Wednesday evening, was booked for attempt to murder his children.
PI P R Shah, who is investigating the case, told that Mahajan will be kept under police custody tillMarch 24. Shah informed that despite of continuous interrogation, Mahajan didn’t tell the reason behind his extreme decision.
Mahajan works as a supervisor at a private company in MIDC and hails from a well-to-do family.On Wednesday around 8.15, Mahajan, a resident of Somalwada, had brought his daughters, Vaishali and Janvi at Sonegaon Lake and pushed them. Luckily, both the girls were saved after nearby residents rushed for help and jumped into the Lake. Before police reached, the girls were rushed to private hospital. Luckily, both survived and are stated to be out of danger. However, both are still unfit to give any statement to police.
Shah informed that Mahajan seems to be mentally disturbed due to which he might have taken such step.
Mahajan told police that he has undergone operation for artery blockage around six months ago. Later, he claimed that he has again undergone operation just two months before.
His wife informed police that Mahajan took the girls with him to buy ice-cream for them. Besides Vaishali and Janvi, Mahajan, also has a 6-month-old son.
