Nagpur: In a fit of anger after an argument with his, a 40-year old man on Friday torched her and tried to kill her suspecting her character. The incident took place in Beltarodi police jurisdiction. The accused husband has been arrested.
A resident of Khapri Rehabilitation Sector 26 in city, Meenakshi Sunil Godmare (35), in her complaint told police that her husband Sunil Prabhakar Godmare (40) was tormenting her mentally and physically ever since their marriage suspecting her character. On Friday, between 5 pm and 5.30 pm, the accused picked up a quarrel with Meenakshi accusing her of serving stale food to him. In a fit of anger, Sunil poured kerosene on Meenakshi and set her ablaze with the intention to kill her. However, Meenakshi anyhow escaped attempt to kill her and registered a case against her husband with Beltarodi police.
Police Constable Hood, acting on her complaint, booked the accused Sunil Godmare under Sections 307, 498(A) of the IPC and arrested him. Further probe is underway.
