Nagpur: A sessions court in Nagpur has sentenced a 33-year-old man to life imprisonment for brutally murdering his wife after she confronted him over his alleged extramarital relationship and demanded to check his mobile phone.
Sessions Judge Shekhar Munghate convicted Parshuram alias Toofan Swamideen Brahmane and also imposed a fine of Rs 500. In default of payment, the convict will have to undergo an additional three months of imprisonment.

The case pertains to the Pachpaoli Police Station limits, where the couple lived in a rented house in the Lashkaribagh area.
According to the prosecution, frequent quarrels had erupted between the couple over the accused’s alleged extramarital affair. On September 16, 2022, the victim, Sonu Brahmane, allegedly spotted her husband with another woman at Mayo Hospital, leading to a heated argument.
The following night, after dinner, the couple returned to their room, where Sonu again questioned her husband about the alleged affair and asked for his mobile phone. Enraged, Parshuram allegedly picked up a wooden table kept near the television and repeatedly struck her on the head and face.
The assault left Sonu with multiple facial injuries and broken teeth. She died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
The investigation was conducted by then Police Inspector Sanjay Mendhe and Assistant Police Inspector Chandrakant Kose, who collected scientific and documentary evidence linking the accused to the crime.
During the trial, Assistant Public Prosecutor Asavari Parsodkar examined several witnesses, including the deceased’s daughter, and relied on forensic evidence to establish the prosecution’s case.
After considering the evidence and witness testimonies, the court held the accused guilty of murder and awarded him life imprisonment.
