In an obnoxious incident, a man not only raped a woman by doling out life threats and fake marriage promise but also abused and thrashed her when she talked of marriage. Cops have booked the man, his parents and other relatives in this connection.
According to police, the accused Pankaj Tukaram Pawar (31), native of Snehnagar, Plot No. 23, Vitthal Society, Chandrapur, first threatened the 38-year old woman with life by throwing her from gallery of flat located at Suyog Apartment near Navbharat Press on Wardha Road, Nagpur and then raped her frequently from January 2011 to September 2, 2014 by doling out false marriage promise. Moreover, when the victim, along with her maternal aunt, went to Chandrapur residence of accused Pankaj Pawar for marriage talks, other accused namely Tukaram Khemaji Pawar (60), Sunita Tukaram Pawar (58), Swapnil Tukaram Pawar (28), Suvarna Govardhan Aade Pawar (30) and Pankaj himself started abusing and insulting the woman by calling her caste. Pankaj then resorted to beating and humiliating the victm woman. The bewildered woman, unable to tolerate the intimidation, lodged a complaint with Pratap Nagar Police Station against the accused.

Pratap Nagar PSI Ghodam, on the basis of the complaint, has booked Pankaj Pawar, his parents, brother and other relative under Sections 376, 323, 506 of the IPC and Sub-Sections 3(1)(12) of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and probing the matter further.
