Man gets lifer killing teenage boy over Rs 500 in Nagpur

Nagpur: Additional Sessions Judge R R Bhosale in Nagpur on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to Prabhakar Suryabhan Meshram after the charges of killing a teenage boy in Pachpaoli area were proved against him in the court.

Vicky alias Vitthal Siddharth Bagde (19), a resident of Plot No 177, Siddharth Nagar, Teka, had borrowed Rs 500 from Prabhakar Meshram (50), who was also staying in the same locality. As Vicky had no money, he could not return Rs 500 to him. Around 7 pm on May 17, 2020, Meshram met Vicky at Siddharth Nagar area and asked him to return his money. As an argument broke out between the duo, Meshram stabbed Vicky with a sharp-edged knife injuring him seriously. Vicky was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

On the complaint of Siddharth Shyamrao Bagde (44), father of the deceased, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Meshram. The same day, Meshram was arrested.

Police Sub-Inspector Manish Godbole investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against Meshram in the court. As the charges were substantiated against Meshram, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3000 for the offence under Section 302 of the IPC. For the offence under Section 201 of the IPC, the court sentenced him to two years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2000. Both the sentences would run concurrently.

Additional Public Prosecutor Adv Leeladhar Shendre represented the State. Adv Chandrashekhar Jaltare was the defence counsel.
