Two accused arrested. A builder Devanand Raghatate along with his friend Satish Sohanlal Joshi hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Devanand’s first wife Ragini. Accordingly, both took Ragini to a jungle near Kuhi on Umred Road in their Scorpio car and strangulated Ragini to death. After killing Ragini in cold blood, both Devanand and Satish burned body of Ragini in the jungle itself in order to wipe out any evidence.
Nagpur News: In a development that would match any spine-chilling drama or a suspense movie, a man first fell in love with his employee, thereafter married with her, then indulged in second marriage, refused to pay maintenance money to the first wife, kidnapped her when she demanded money, and finally killed her in cold blood, tried to wipe out evidence by burning her body in a far away jungle. Now, the man is cooling his heels in police custody.
According to police, the girl Ragini, sister of the complainant Shailesh Vinayakrao Moon (38), resident of New Shukrawari, Chandnipura, near Bouddha Vihar, Nagpur, was working in office of Om Shiv Builders and Land Developers, Tulshibagh, Nagpur. The owner of the firm, Devanand Vasantrao Raghatate (45), resident of Rambagh, Nagpur. Both Ragini and Devanand tied the nuptial knot in 2007 (Love marriage). However, Devanand, after some years, married with another girl working in his office. The second marriage by Devanand did not go well for Ragini and a frequent quarrel became a routine. Both Devanand and Ragini became frustrated and depressed with exchange of hot words between them on daily basis. Finally, Devanand and Ragini decided to part ways and live separately. Devanand used to give maintenance money to Ragini. But for the past 4-5 months, Devanand stopped giving money to Ragini. On 25.2.2014, at about 2 pm, Ragini went to the office of Devanand for demanding money. However, Devanand, instead of giving money to Ragini, kidnapped her and took her to an unidentified place. The Kotwali police had registered an offence under Section 363 of the IPC.
However, a detailed investigation by police revealed horrible facts of the case. Devanand Raghatate, now resident of Narendra Nagar, along with his friend Satish Sohanlal Joshi (34), resident of Karnalbagh, Nagpur, hatched a conspiracy. Accordingly, both Devanand and Satish took Ragini to a jungle near Kuhi on Umred Road in their Scorpio car and strangulated Ragini with the help of a rope. After killing Ragini in cold blood, both Devanand and Satish burned body of Ragini in the jungle itself in order to wipe out any evidence. Now, the Kotwali police have booked both Devanand Raghatate and Satish Joshi under Sections 363, 364, 302, 201, 120(B), 34 of the IPC and have put both the accused under arrest. Kotwali PSI Darekar is investigating the case.
