According to police sources, the deceased, identified as Manish Devanand Deshbhratar, a resident of Raghupati Nagar, had entered into a love marriage with a woman named Pooja around 12 years ago. The couple had two children and initially led a normal family life. However, over the past few years, frequent disputes and tensions reportedly began to strain their relationship.

Family members alleged that Pooja often spent long hours talking to other people over the phone, which Manish strongly objected to. This allegedly became a recurring cause of arguments and domestic disputes between the couple. Over time, the continuous conflicts reportedly pushed Manish into severe depression and emotional breakdown.

According to relatives, on March 14, 2026, Pooja allegedly left the house with a youth identified as Pranay. The sudden departure of his wife reportedly left Manish shattered mentally. Sources said he later managed to bring her back home from Vijayawada, but the relationship continued to deteriorate.

A few days later, Pooja again left for her parental home. Family members further alleged that she refused to take responsibility for their two minor children. The repeated family disputes, emotional distress, and fear of social humiliation allegedly pushed Manish into prolonged mental trauma.

Unable to cope with the mounting stress and emotional suffering, Manish allegedly ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence on April 20. The incident sent shockwaves across the locality.

Initially, Wadi Police registered an accidental death case and launched an inquiry. During the investigation, based on the complaint filed by Manish’s mother, Kavita Devanand Deshbhratar, and other findings that surfaced, police registered a case against the accused wife for allegedly abetting the suicide.

The tragic incident paints a grim picture of collapsing relationships, emotional turmoil, and the devastating impact of unresolved domestic conflicts. Cases involving mental harassment and marital disputes are increasingly emerging as silent triggers behind suicides, raising serious concerns about emotional well-being and family support systems in society.
