Man convicted for dowry murder, gets lifer

Dowry deaths continue to be a bane of Indian society. The day today facts only go to strengthen the view.
As per details of the case, the accused Sachin Vyankat Thosare, 28, was married to Vidya as per traditional rights. Some days after the marriage, Vidya was excessively tortured, physically and mentally by accused 1) Sachin- husband 2) Vyankat Ganapat Thosare, 65, father-in-law 3) Mother-in-law, all residents of Chacher. 4) Ishwar Narayan Mahajan, 30 5) Sister-in-law of deceased, a resident of, Vinoba Bhave Ward, Ramtek. The reason for torture being not bringing dowry of fridge, TV and gas connection to her in-laws house.
On the complaint of Shilabai Ramesh Chakole, 40, a resident of, Narsala, Kanhan, lodged on April 16, 2012, at Ramtek police station, an offence under sections 498A, 304B, 201 of IPC was registered against the accused.

Police inspector, Kishor Gavai, after detailed investigation into the matter committed the case to the court of District and Sessions Judge, court no. 7, V T Suryavanshi. On July 18, 2014, the court held the accused Sachin, guilty of offences under section 302 and awarded lifer and fine of Rs 2,000, in default of it 6 months rigorous imprisonment, under section 201, two years imprisonment and Rs 500 fine, in default 2 months imprisonment, 203, 2months imprisonment and Rs 200/ , in default 8 days simple imprisonment. Other accused have been released for lack of evidence.
