Nagpur: A young, greedy man has been booked by Tehsil police on the charges of abetting wife’s suicide over ‘insufficient’ dowry. The woman’s body was found floating in a well on Wednesday morning.

The deceased Roshni Tushar Shende (25), resident of Jagnath Budhwari, committed suicide by jumping into a well outside her home in the wee hours of Wednesday. Her body was found floating at 7.30 am. Tehsil police at that time had registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough probe to ascertain the exact cause of Roshni’s extreme step.

A detailed investigation revealed, Roshni’s husband Tushar Vishveshwar Shende (28), subjected her to severe physical and mental torture soon after their marriage. The accused Tushar tormented Roshni from 6.11.2016 to 31.5.2017 over inadequate dowry in the marriage. Fed up with the frequent harassment, Roshni ended her life by jumping into a well situated outside her home around 2.55 am of Wednesday.

Based on the probe and a complaint lodged by deceased Roshni’s father Anandrao Murlidhar Palandurkar (51) of Bhandara, API S V Kadlag has booked the accused Tushar Shende under Sections 304(B), 504, 506 of the IPC.
