Man befriends woman on Facebook, rapes, blackmails her over obscene video

Nagpur: Gittikhadan police have booked a Telangana based man for allegedly raping and blackmailing a 36-year-old woman between July 21, 2017 and Dec 2018. The accused have already extorted Rs 8 lakhs from her over the years and used to threaten to kill her daughter, alleged the woman.

The accused has been identified as Kumar R. Gadvi resident of Mancherial, in Adilabad district (Telangana).

Talking to Nagpur Today, Police Sub-Inspector, Ravindra Namdevrao Barad, Gittikhadan police station informed that the woman, whose husband is paralysed, met the accused Gadvi back in 2017 through social media platform Facebook. The duo exchanged their mobile numbers and started chatting on whastapp and subsequently developed a love affair. To win over her confidence, the accused had also promised to marry her, before expressing her sexual desires towards her.

The accused reportedly called her to Hyderabad and made a physical relation with her. As he promised to marry her, a 36-year-old consented to his demands. The accused even recorded the alleged act and clicked objectionable photographs of the woman.

However soon as the woman returned to Nagpur, the accused started using the video and photographs to blackmail her. Gadvi had asked the woman to transfer money in his wife’s and brother in law’s account if she wants to protect her image and started drawing money from the complainant. He reportedly came to Nagpur and stayed with her family before talking gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh with him and also raped her, told the survivor to the police.

The woman did not reveal the frequent blackmailing and rapes fearing the social stigma and fear of losing her daughter, as the accused also threatened, to kill her daughter. However somehow she mustered courage and narrated her ordeal to her family and subsequently they approached Gittikhadan police station.

Gittikhadan police have booked the accused Gadvi under section 417, 384, 506 of IPC and started the probe.
