Man attacked with sword in Sakkardara; youth arrested, elderly woman booked

Nagpur.

Quarrel over an old rivalry has left a man battling for life as a youth and an elderly woman tried to eliminate him on Tuesday. The murderous assault took place at Azad Colony, Bada Tajabad at around 7 pm under Sakkardara police station. The man is hospitalised and reportedly critical.

Sakkardara police have arrested Sheikh Riyaz Sheikh Razzaq (29) and booked Sheikh Rukhsana Begum Sheikh Razzaq (55), both residents of Kaisiya Colony, near Besa Power House for an attempt to murder case.

Police sources said Sheikh Riyaz and Rukhsana Begum met Taj Khan Babu Khan (30), a resident of Azad Colony, Tajabad, on Tuesday at around 7 pm in front of Mohd Isan Mohd Yuqub’s house, Azad Colony, Bada Tajabad. The accused got into verbal duel with Taj Khan over an old rivalry and hurled profanities at his way. Enraged Riyaz threatened to kill Taj and with an intention to eliminate Taj, he took out a sword and attacked Taj. He suffered head injuries. Meanwhile, Rukhsana Begum also thrashed Taj and threatened to kill him. Onlookers immediately informed Sakkadara police who rushed to the scene.

Cops rushed Taj to Curet Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors have said that he was still in critical condition. Meanwhile, cops arrested Riyaz and booked Rukhsana for trying to kill Taj. Cops have registered an offence under sections 307 and 34 of the IPC read with sub sections 4+25 of Arms Act and 135 of Bombay Police Act. Further investigations are in progress.
