According to police, the incident occurred around 7 pm on May 4 at Shatabdi Chowk, near Anand Glasses shop, under the jurisdiction of Ajni Police Station. The complainant, Woman Police Constable Malti Atmaram Pal (56), attached to the Traffic Branch of Nagpur Police, was on duty along with her colleagues, carrying out routine traffic enforcement action.
During the drive, she stopped a two-wheeler rider for issuing a challan. The accused, identified as Inzamamul Kaleem Khan (33), a resident of Sundar Nagar on Bahadura Road in Kharbi, allegedly became aggressive and obstructed the official duty being performed by the police team.
Police stated that the accused verbally abused the constable, then assaulted her by striking her on the head with a sack he was carrying and physically attacking her with fists. He also allegedly issued threats, warning her of further consequences.
The sudden attack created panic at the spot, as the accused not only assaulted the woman constable but also interfered with the lawful duties of the police personnel present.
Based on the complaint lodged by Constable Pal, a case has been registered at Ajni Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions related to obstructing a public servant, assault, and criminal intimidation.
