Mumbai/Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Thane Police today named former Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni as an accused in India’s biggest ever drug racket which was busted two months ago.
Mamta is likely to face a Red Corner Notice by the Interpol.
Earlier, police had also named Mamta’s husband Vicky Goswami as an accused in the case.
Addressing the media, Thane CP Paramvir Singh said police probe reveals that Mamta and Vicky were the masterminds behind the drug racket.
The police have also said that the husband had connection with drug lords and their drug connections extended as far as Morocco. Thane police will now be verifying her bank accounts and investments.
“Some people from Bollywood are being investigated for their connections with Mamta Kulkarni and Vicky Goswami,” said Singh.
According to The Indian Express, the Thane police has so far arrested 10 people in connection with the case in which ephedrine for medicines was allegedly being diverted from the Solapur unit of Avon Lifesciences Ltd and used for making narcotics.
