Nagpur: The eager Nagpurians are set to witness their “Majhi Metro” chugging off with the dawn of 2019 as the first two sets of Metro would reach the city by the end of 2018. The coach manufacturing process for Maha Metro Nagpur has gained steam at CRRC Corporation Ltd, China and train sets of six coaches (2 train sets of 3 coaches each) are expected in December. CRRC Dalian had received order for 69 coaches for Nagpur Metro Project.
According to MMRCL officials, the coaches of “Majhi Metro” are designed as per suggestions of China CRRC Corporation Ltd. Once the car-body structure is ready, other equipment like propulsion system, already shipped from Japan, brake system, PA/PIS, Door system, Interior etc. are assembled in coaches.
A team of Nagpur Metro is set to visit China for inspection the train soon. Laced with many special features, Nagpur Metro would be operated in both manual and auto pilot mode. But still the Nagpur Metro would be run by a driver. Except Delhi Metro, no other Metro in the country is permitted to operate without driver.
The features:
· Commuters travelling in Metro could watch live streaming on LED screens through satellites
·Wi-fi facility inside the coaches
·Special arrangements atop the coaches for rain water harvesting
·Auto mechanical system for coupling of coaches
·Coaches are designed to save electricity
· The interior designs in coaches will display cultural heritage of the city
The equipments from various manufacturing units located across various countries such as Germany, Spain apart from China are assembled to make the Nagpur Metro. After the series of tests are successfully conducted at the plant, the two trains would be shipped to Nagpur. The coaches would be delivered at Nagpur MIHAN Car Depot of the Maha Metro project.
