Nagpur: Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MEDCL), also known as Mahavitaran Company, has provided employment to as many as 32,500 incumbents in various categories since its inception in year 2005. Various posts so filled in range from the post of electrical assistants to the post of chief engineers. Not only this, as many as 7,176 candidates have been appointed on compassionate ground.
It is worth mentioning that prior to MEDCL’s formation, the recruitment was banned in MSEB. But soon after its formation, the avenues of employment were opened and employment through nationally recognized recruitment agencies were made.
The figure 32,000 includes 28,500 posts in technical establishment; 3,600 in non-technical establishment; 13,879 posts of junior technicians; 7,000 electrical assistants; 3052 junior engineers; 2000 sub-station attendants, 1385 junior operators; 1000 accounts assistants; and a numbers of chief engineers, superintending engineers, executive engineers, additional executive engineers, assistant executive engineers, and human resource personnel in information, works and public relations, etc.
The next of kin of accidentally died employees of Mahavitaran Company is given subsistence allowance for a period of 10 years or until his employment somewhere, whichever is earlier. As many as 7,176 jobs have been provided on compassionate grounds, informed a press release issued by Dy Chief PRO, Mahavitaran Co. Nagpur.
