Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across Maharashtra until July 30, as the southwest monsoon has become active once again due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
Authorities have advised residents, farmers, and tourists to remain alert as intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected over the next four days.

Orange Alert for Vidarbha
According to the weather department, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts have been placed under an Orange Alert on July 29, while Chandrapur will continue under an Orange Alert on July 30 due to the possibility of very heavy rainfall.
Strong winds of 40–50 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms, are also expected in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
Yellow Alert for Konkan and Western Ghats
A Yellow Alert has been issued from July 28 to July 31 for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and the ghat regions of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur.
Continuous rainfall may trigger landslides, overflowing rivers and streams, and waterlogging in low-lying areas, prompting authorities to advise caution for travellers using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Amboli Ghat, and Tamhini Ghat routes.
Administration Issues Advisory
The state administration has directed emergency response teams to remain on alert and urged citizens to follow official weather advisories. People have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms and not to take shelter under trees during lightning activity.
