Nagpur: Looking at the scorching heat and the temperature rising with each passing day, MahaMetro has launched a ‘Heat Action Plan’ to meet the climatic adversities. Looking at the adverse effects of increasing heat on human body, labourers have been banned to execute any work during afternoon hours. Their working hours have been changed and according to new schedule, the labourers will work in two shifts from 7 am to 12 noon in the morning shift and from 4 pm to 9 pm in the evening shift. The labourers will be given complete rest from 12 noon to 4 pm.

Various measures have been taken for labourers’ safety and in wake of severe summer and accordingly, temporary sheds have been erected at the working place and cold drinking arrangements have been made. In addition, huge cotton umbrellas have been set up for the traffic marshals deployed at various squares of the city to ensure smooth movement of vehicles at the places where Metro work is in progress. All the employees and labourers have been imparted training to protect themselves from sunstroke and mock drills regarding the same are being conducted from time to time.
