Madras HC rejects Bharat Ratna plea for Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Madras HC rejects petition seeking Bharat Ratna for the late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. The court says it cannot dictate terms to the Centre. The AIADMK has asked that the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who died last month, should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay award and India’s top civilian honour Bharat Ratna. The party also wants coins minted with her face.
