Nagpur: A day after Congress’s Vikas Thakrey filed his nomination with a roadshow, BJP’s heavyweight candidate Nitin Gadkari filed his nomination for the Nagpur seat amidst a sea of supporters here on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, BJP President Chandrashekar Bawankule, and others were prominently present on this occasion.
Gadkari submitted his nomination to District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar. Prior to this, a power show of Gadkari’s supporters was carried out from Samvidhan Square to the Collector’s Office.
Before filing his nomination papers, Gadkari and other dignitaries garlanded the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at Samvidhan Square and Raja Bakht Buland Shah at Vidhan Bhavan Square
Gadkari reached the office of District Collector in a rally where hundreds of party leaders and supporters were present. Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister; Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State BJP President; Prof Jogendra Kawade, People’s Republican Party leader; Sulekha Kumbhare, ex-Minister of State; Prashant Pawar, Nagpur City President of Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar Group); Satish Lonare, Vidarbha Pradesh President of Lok Jan Shakti Party accompanied Gadkari.
