Nagpur: A 51-year-old Central Railway loco pilot was killed in a tragic road accident on Monday morning after a four-wheeler allegedly rammed his two-wheeler near the Chhaoni turning on the Sadar flyover.
The deceased has been identified as Indrajit Sarkar, who was attached to the Loco Running Control and was on his way to report for duty when the accident occurred around 8.15 am.

Sarkar, originally from Asansol in West Bengal, was residing alone at Shambhu Nagar in Nagpur. He is survived by his wife and two children, who are reportedly travelling to Nagpur to perform his last rites.
According to information available, Sarkar was riding his two-wheeler (MH-49/C-0452) when an oncoming four-wheeler (MH-31/DC-2630) allegedly collided with his vehicle near the Chhaoni turning.
The impact was so severe that Sarkar lost his balance and was thrown onto the cement road of the flyover. He sustained critical head injuries in the fall.
Fellow railway employee rushes to rescue
Around the same time, fellow railway employee Paritosh Kumar, who was returning home after completing his duty at Ajni Depot, noticed a crowd gathered on the flyover. On reaching the spot, he found Sarkar seriously injured.
Kumar reportedly provided him first aid and immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Mankapur. However, doctors examined Sarkar at the casualty department and declared him dead.
Sources said Sarkar was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but the force of the impact caused him to fall heavily onto the road, resulting in fatal injuries.
Following the accident, the driver of the four-wheeler allegedly fled from the spot, reportedly fearing a public backlash, and headed towards Saoner.
Students travelling in the vehicle subsequently reported the accident to Saoner Police Station. The information was then relayed to Nagpur City Police, following which Sadar Police launched efforts to trace the vehicle and its driver.
The accused driver was subsequently detained and arrested by Sadar Police.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal collision, including the manner in which the four-wheeler was being driven and the circumstances under which the driver allegedly fled after the accident.
The death of Sarkar, who was reportedly on his way to perform his railway duties, has left his fellow railway employees and family members in shock.
