New Delhi: Abu Dujana, top commander of Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir and another terrorist- Arif, have been gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama. Dujana, 27, was shot when he had sneaked into a house to meet his wife.
The police was already aware of the fact that Dujana paid a time to time visit to his wife. Having watched him on two earlier occasions, a certain pattern of timing and pre-arrival environment was noticed. After receiving the inputs of his arrival at Hakripora residential complex, the police deployed their forces and a joint operation by 182 Battalion, 183 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) was carried out.
Who was Abu Dujana?
A native of Pakistan, Dujana had insinuated in Kashmir from PoK seven years ago in 2010. Since his infiltration in the state, he had been operating in its various parts. He had also managed to acquire strong local units in South Kashmir.
He was among one of the the longest surviving foreign militants in Jammu & Kashmir. He was also popular among the youth as he frequently posted photographs and video clips on social media.
