Legislator bodyguard whips out pistol

Nagpur:  Close on the heels of a firing incident on Sunday, another incident of whipping out a pistol to threaten and intimidate has come to light at Nagpur railway station on Monday. Interestingly, the accused in this case is the bodyguard of a BJP legislator. The accused, who has been identified as Manoj Choube, has been arrested by the police.

Police said that Choube reached the the railway station to receive his relatives coming from outside. The relatives wanted to go to Jhansi Rani square in an auto-rickshaw. Choube took up a quarrel with the auto rickshaw owner on the issue of rental to be charged.

An enraged Choube then took out his revolver and started hitting the auto rickshaw owners including Tauhid Shamshad Hussain and Mohammad Javed with the butt of the pistol.

In the meantime, cops from Sitabuldi police station, arrived on the spot and arrested Choube. Later, the supporters of Choube too reached Sitabuldi police station. The autorickshaw owners, led by NCP corporator Pragati Patil, too arrived at the police station.The autorickshaw owners staged demonstrations in front of Sitabuldi police station and demanded the immediate arrest of Choube. Sitabuldi police have registered offences against Choube and are investigating the matter.
