Nagpur: Local Body Tax (LBT) Department on Tuesday initiated search and seizure action at M/s Vidarbha Bottlers Pvt. Ltd., Chinchbhawan, Wardha Road, Nagpur, for suspected evasion of the tax in lakhs. The firm deals in production of country liquor.
In the preliminary investigation, the LBT Department noticed that, the firm imported 90 tankers of Rectified Spirit as raw material amounting Rs 6 crore approximately. The dealer had to pay Rs 48 lakh approximately as principle LBT amount @ 8% on Rectified Spirit but has not paid LBT amount on such import till to date. The dealer has also purchased packing material like empty bottles, labels, caps etc. The dealer is deemed registered in LBT and has not submitted LBT Return for any financial year. It is also noticed that the dealer submitted the VAT Return of nil liability for the financial year 2013-14 & 2014-15. The Department seized important documents from the dealer’s establishment. Department will verify the documents and data seized for fixing the actual LBT liability on the dealer.
The search and seizure action was conducted by LBT Officer Rajesh Meshram; Asstt. LBT Officers Sanjay Dahikar, Narayan Wankhede and Assistants Jitendra Tomar, Shailendra Bharadwaj, Amir Hussain, Sanjay Moundekar, and Someshwar Parate. The operation was initiated under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Milind Meshram under the directives of Municipal Commissioner and Additional Dy. Mpl. Commissioner.
