Fresh from the Dilip Gwalbanshi case, SIT has gained much popularity among the citizens who are now approaching SIT officials to report their issues. Against the said complaints, SIT had received 701 applications. Shockingly 290 applications were against Gwalbanshi alone whereas remaining pertained to other criminals and fraudsters. At least 54 complaints are regarding housing societies. Besides, 210 personal complaints were also made to the SIT.

It may be mentioned that Nagpur Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham had formed SIT on April 24 this year, in order to reign the increasing instances of land grabs and related frauds. Earlier DCP Zone 2 Rakesh Kalasagar was heading SIT but owing to the piling up complaints, Kalasagar was shifted out and Crime Branch DCP Sambhaji Kadam and ACP Somnath Waghchaure were then entrusted with the responsibility to lead SIT team which also comprises few other officials and policemen.

Talking to Nagpur Today SIT Chief Sambhaji Kadam said that given the quantum of complaints against Dilip Gwalbanshi, SIT may soon seize his properties. The team is also hunting for Prem Gwalbanshi, Jagdish Gwalbanshi, Harish Gwalbanshi and Shailesh Gwalbanshi who are reportedly abconding.

He informed that as many as 13 cases have been registered against Dilip Gwalbanshi. 425 people have already got back the possession of their land back. It is learnt that Gwalbanshi and his family had allegedly grabbed acres of land belonging to hordes of people. Among those who have got their land back include 60 plots of GM Society, 40 of Vaibhavanand Society, 100 plots of Tawakkal Society, and 70 plots of Narmada Housing Society. All these plots were forcefully encroached upon by Gwalbanshi. It may be mentioned that recently MCOCA has been imposed on Dilip Gwalbanshi.
