The MLA Krishna Khopde and the Ward Corporator Chetana Tank revealed several illegal activities taking place with the “blessing” of Lakadganj police. Khopde and Tank specifically mentioned the area near Shanti Nagar Mirchi Bazaar (Chili Market) which has become a joint for illegal liquor business, gambling dens and other nasty activities. “The liquor shops in areas open at 4-5 in the wee hours of morning. And the liquor shop owners could not dare to indulge in such illegal activities without the “connivance” and “protection” from Lakadganj police.
Nagpur News:
The Lakadganj police have started to sense red-heat after the Crime Branch raid on Laguna Blue Hotel which was hosting liquor parties without license. The Laguna Blue Hotel is very under the nose of Lakadganj police. The Crime Branch raid not only exposed the Hotel’s illegal activities but also focused on the role of Lakadganj police. And the BJP’s East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde rightfully cornered the Lakadganj police for their seemingly “carry on” attitude.
The MLA Krishna Khopde and the Ward Corporator Chetana Tank led a delegation and reached the Lakadganj Police Station and submitted a memorandum of their demands to the Police Inspector. The memorandum revealed several illegal activities taking place with the “blessing” of Lakadganj police, and that activities have resulted in untoward incidents. Khopde and Tank specifically mentioned the area near Shanti Nagar Mirchi Bazaar (Chili Market) which has become a joint for illegal liquor business, gambling dens and other nasty activities. “The liquor shops in Chhapru Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Ambedkar Square, Kalmna and other areas open at 4-5 in the wee hours of morning. And the liquor shop owners could not dare to indulge in such illegal activities without the “connivance” and “protection” from Lakadganj police. The evidence is crystal clear as the Crime Branch itself had to come to Wardhaman Nagar and raid the Laguna Blue Hotel under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station. Being the East Nagpur MLA, I will not tolerate any illegal activities even if I were to be a common man,” Khopde asserted
The BJP Corporator Chetan Tank, too, posed a pointed poser to Lakadganj Police. “How the licenses for liquor shops are being given in the periphery of 100 meters from schools and colleges? The matter should be investigated by the higher officials of police,” Chetana Tank said.
The delegation consisted of BJP’s Campaign Chief Chandan Goswami, Sachin Karare, Corporator Manisha Kothe, Sangita Kalamkar, Anita Wankhede, Seema Dhomne, Vandana Dhoble, Archana Gabhne, Sakta Agrawal and others.
